Sorry to hear about your grandpa, When my dad died, I was approched by 2 elders they told me that the service was already arranged for my dad and that they were not going to have anyone else go up and say anything, basically Sit down shut up and behave! I wish I would have walked up anyway, I wouldn't have said anything bad but would have just said a rememberance of my dad. I hate the way JW's choose to pick times like this to prove that they are above everyone else, I really hate that about this religion. I wish you lots of luck

Well my grandpa just died...
by bluesbreaker59 inso, i get the call today from my aunt, who still speaks to me, and she fills me in, and tells me the visitation is friday (i'm not going), and the funeral is saturday.
my dad told her that he wants me to "sit with the family".
i never went to pay my last respects to him or talk to him, because he was an elder forever, and i was told he wouldn't speak to me, so i never went and never sent a card, nothing.

christendom and war
by TIMBOB inwent to the bookstudy this morning.
the study talked about false religion and war and how other religions are killing each other and also jw's for not going to war.
there was many comment of how many early jw's served time or were executed for not going to war.

I've always had an objection to the way JW's talk about military service, well what comes to mind is World War two, I think in that war fighting Nazi's was the right thing to do, and how would god want his christian to just stand by and let Hitlers army destroy people like he did without wanting us to fight against him. A JW world with no Military, no Police, well that is a true world of evil unchecked.

Catholics on Big Love
by undercover inandre's thread on jws vs catholics reminded me for some reason of last night's episode of big love.. did anyone else relate to nikki's response to her son playing with a cross?
it was as if she was possessed by a jw demon or sumthin.
and her whole attitude toward the catholic faith reminded me of how jws react.

JW's vs Catholics
by Wordly Andre inone thing ive noticed with a lot of people on this website is hatred towards the catholic church, more so than any other religion, is this a by product of years of indoctrination from the jws?
i am not trying to change or challenge anyones beliefs, but i started thinking about this after watching last nights episode of big love, one of the wives on that show allows her son to attend a catholic school, but then starts talking about how crucifixes are demonic and how the church is full of evil, it reminded me of the way jws talk about the catholic church.
a while back i dated a girl who used to be a member of the world wide church of god or international church of christ, i forget the name exactly but they hated the catholic church too, a lot of the way they kept track of their members was very much like jws.

Yes well that is my point, I mean you would never see a catholic have that reaction to a watchtower or awake, and if you did the JW's would make a big stink over it. My personal experiance is this I have some Catholic family but most of my family are JW's, the catholic side is more loving, and accepting, my JW's well I don't need to tell you how crazy they are.
